TRAINING THE SHORT-WINGED xx
AN ELIZABETHAN PERSPECTIVE
edited by Derry Argue2005 1st edition thus. 192 page hardback. B/w illustrations.
New unread hardback in dust-wrapper.
This book presents two Tudor falconery books, previously little known, and containing much interesting material of use to the modern xxxxx. The first is, An Approved Treatise of Hawks and xxxxxx by Edmund Bert [1619] and the second, A Perfect Booke for Kepinge of Sparhawkes or Goshawks by an unknown author [1575].
Derry Argue has transcribed and edited the original to present a useable, practical text to the modern xxxxx. Short-winged hawks "need to come to 'love their keeper' and both books ...excel in explaining how this behaviour is achieved and how faults such as hood-shyness, carrying, turning tail, extreme nervousness &c. can be cured".
